This Halloween we organized a trick-or-treat event for the children from our local community in order to find inspiration for our story. Hundreds of children came to the student center at our school, Northwestern University, to trick-or-treat in a safe environment. We presented the children with drawings of four different pumpkins and asked them to draw an emotion on each one. The main emotions that they conveyed were fear, anger, surprise and happiness; these emotions form the foundation for the four frames of our story. The hero of our story is a young girl, Mei, who decides to face her fears by opening a door to the unknown. What she finds behind is a beautiful world filled with friends whom she never would have discovered had she not had the courage to conquer her demons.
